SIGNAL ISLAND is the largest true coral cay 244 hectares (603 acres) on the New Caledonia south lagoon with 13,5 hectares (34 acres) surrounding reef, just 30 mn by our water taxi from Noumea (cruise ship Terminal). This uninhabited Tropical Island surrounded by pristine white sands beach is often compared to Whitehaven beach in the whithsundays (Australia).

The Captain Tardy de Montravel built on Signal island a 10 m high triangular pyramid made of wood and coral, which served as a signal (the name of fthe island) to ships traveling from Port-de-France (Noumea) to  Dumbea pass (great barrier reef acces). Today, a small track (30min walk) makes it possible to go around the island and discover the vestiges of this old signal.
